This quaint hotel is just a short stroll from the Piazza Navona. Nearly all of its 25 rooms have spectacular views of the Pantheon. When last we visited there were no private bathrooms, though there are two spotless bathrooms on each floor all equipped with both tub & shower. Every room is equipped with a sink, and fresh, fluffy towels. Moderately priced but be warned, NO CREDIT CARDS accepted. |

Located near the Spanish Steps and Via Veneto, Hotel Modigliani is operated by a couple who are also both accomplished artists, she a musician and he a writer. This lovely hotel is moderately priced and features 24 rooms each with air conditioning, bath shower, hairdryer, minibar, safe, and satellite TV. The Hotel Modigliani is an excellent pick for either a pleasant holiday in Rome or a quick business trip. And speaking of business... The Modigliani also features a well equipped conference room with space for meetings of up to 50 participants. One of our favorite features is the hotel's delightful inner garden which offers a soothing place for a quiet break from the hubub of Rome's busy streets. This is a rare treat! Rooms on the top floor offer spectacular views of the historic old center of the city, while all the other rooms either open onto the garden or a quiet old side street. When you visit, say "Hello!" for us to Marco and Giulia Di Tillo, the proprietors. Standard Double Room: 190 - 225 Euros, and they also offer two apartments. |

Tucked away directly behind the Trajan Forum, this is our pick for what may be the best kept hotel secret in the city! The Hotel Nerva is a lovingly and impeccably rennovated small hotel right in the midst of Old Rome. Walk out of the front door of the Nerva and proceed uphill to turn into the ruins of the old Trajan Marketplace, or go 1/2 a block downhill turn right and cross the boulevard, with the Coloseum off to your left, to the entrance to the ancient Roman Forum. This moderately priced, 3-star hotel includes amenities and touches you won't find in some 4-star establishments. The Nerva is one of our all time favorites not just because of its value and location, but also because of the warmth and friendliness of the family that operates it. |
